ANNOUNCEMENTS

ST. STEPHEN’S MEN’S CHOIR:   will be leading the choir on Sunday, 8 May (continuing the Mother’s Day tradition). 

There will be a practice on Thursday, 5 May at 7:30 pm in the parish hall.

PWRDF CHANGE BOTTLES:  Please bring any change bottles back to church or the parish office.

Every bit helps.  Thank you.

VINTAGE VOICES:  New additional time and venue! 

 (Starting 28 April) Thursdays, at 2:30 pm, Shoreham Village.  All Welcome!

LENTEN LUNCH UPDATE:  Donations were made on behalf of each Lenten Lunch speaker

to their individual charity of choice from the money raised (almost $2600). 

The program was a great success – thanks again to all who participated to make it so.

CHESTER MUNICIPAL RELAY FOR LIFE: will take place on Friday, 17 June from 7:00 pm to 1:00 am at Chester Area Middle School.

Register now to put in a team, be a volunteer, or buy a luminary ($5) to honour the memory of a loved one.

All cancer survivors who would like to attend should also register.

All proceeds go to the Canadian Cancer Society.

The following is a message from Rev. Tory Byrne 

 

April 22 (this Friday) is EARTH DAY.

 

God created the earth and all that is therein, and God gave the human family 

the responsibility to care for the earth.

I challenge you all to do something special for the earth this Friday.  

This year the national theme is tree planting.

Not all of you can do that, but if you can, plant a tree yourself. 

If you can't do that, sponsor someone else in planting a tree

(one opportunity to do that is at the EARTH DAY 2016 website https://earthday.ca/). 

 

  

More practically, get outdoors, go for a walk - as long a walk as you can. 

Take a bag with you and pick up the garbage you find on your walk. 

Sort it for garbage/recycling collection.

 

 Can't get out for a walk? - cut down on your use of of non-renewal energy. 

Try not to use a motor vehicle for the day,

 cut down on use of electricity- really cut down. 

Open the door, step outside, breath in the fresh air and 

feel the power of the sun and the wind.

 

The forecast is for a wonderful warm sunny day; 

rejoice and be glad in it. 

 

And everybody: make a take time of prayer to give thanks to God

for this fragile island plant on which we live, 

and pray for the will to take care of it.
